Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Tibu.ng. By creating an account, posting a listing, or browsing the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. About Tibu.ng
Tibu.ng ("Tibu", "we", "our", "us") is an online classified advertisements marketplace operated in Nigeria. We provide a platform for individuals and businesses to list, buy, sell, and exchange goods and services. Tibu.ng is not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not hold funds, guarantee item quality, arrange delivery, or act as an escrow service.
2. Eligibility
To use Tibu.ng you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Reside in or operate a business in Nigeria
- Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
- Not have a previously banned or suspended account on Tibu.ng
By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
3. Account Registration & Verification
3.1 Basic Registration
All users must register with a valid Nigerian phone number and email address. Phone and email registration allows you to post up to 20 listings.
3.2 NIN Verification
To unlock unlimited listings and receive the Tibu Verified Badge, users must complete NIN (National Identification Number) verification. This requires submitting your 11-digit NIN and completing a live selfie matched against the NIMC ID record. Verification is processed through licensed KYC providers. Tibu does not store raw ID documents or selfie images after verification is complete.
3.3 Business Accounts
Business accounts require CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) registration number plus director NIN verification.
3.4 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify Tibu immediately at security@tibu.ng if you suspect unauthorised access.
3.5 One Account Per Person
Each individual may hold only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans, verification requirements, or listing limits is prohibited and will result in permanent removal from the platform.
4. Listing Rules
4.1 Accurate Listings
All listings must accurately describe the item or service being offered. Misleading descriptions, false condition claims, or deceptive pricing are prohibited.
4.2 Photo Requirements
Listings must include real photographs of the actual item being sold. Stock images, screenshots, or photos from other listings are not permitted. All photos are automatically watermarked with "Tibu.ng" on upload.
4.3 Minimum Photos
- Vehicles: minimum 4 photos
- Property: minimum 5 photos
- Electronics/Phones: minimum 2 photos
- All other categories: minimum 2 photos
4.4 Pricing
Prices must be stated in Nigerian Naira (₦). Prices must reflect the genuine asking price. Bait-and-switch pricing (advertising a lower price to attract contact, then demanding more) is prohibited.
4.5 Single Listing Rule
The same item may not be listed under multiple categories simultaneously. Duplicate listings will be removed.
4.6 Listing Duration
Listings remain active for 60 days and can be renewed at no charge.
5. Prohibited Items & Content
The following are strictly prohibited on Tibu.ng:
Illegal Items
- Firearms, ammunition, and military equipment (without verified government licence)
- Controlled substances and illegal drugs
- Counterfeit goods, pirated software, or items infringing intellectual property rights
- Stolen property
Regulated Items
- Prescription medications (without verified pharmacy licence)
- Alcohol (without verified licence)
- Wildlife and protected species
Prohibited Content
- Adult content or sexually explicit material
- Content that incites violence, hatred, or discrimination
- Personal data of third parties without their consent
- Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing solicitations, or fraudulent investment offers
- Job listings that require payment from applicants
Tibu reserves the right to remove any listing that violates these terms without prior notice. Repeated violations will result in account suspension or permanent ban.
6. Property Listings — Special Rules
All property listings on Tibu.ng require the lister to declare whether they are the property Owner or a Real Estate Agent. This is a mandatory step and cannot be skipped.
- Verified Owners must submit a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) or deed of assignment for review.
- Verified Agents must submit a valid NIESV (Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers) or ESVARBON licence number.
Unverified declarations are permitted but will display a clear warning to buyers. Making a false declaration of ownership or agency status is a serious violation and will result in permanent ban and may be reported to relevant authorities.
7. Reviews & Ratings
7.1 Who Can Review
Any registered user may leave a review on any seller they have interacted with. Reviews are not gated behind a completed transaction.
7.2 Honesty Requirement
Reviews must be honest and based on actual experience. Before submitting a review, users acknowledge that they must be able to support the review with evidence if challenged.
7.3 Seller Cannot Delete Reviews
Sellers have no ability to delete reviews. This is a permanent platform rule.
7.4 Challenge System
Sellers may challenge a review they believe is false. The reviewer then has 24 hours to provide supporting evidence. If the reviewer fails to respond or provide adequate evidence, the review is removed and the reviewer's account is permanently banned. Sellers who abuse the challenge system lose challenge rights.
7.5 Admin Moderation
Tibu administrators may remove reviews that contain hate speech, personally identifying information, clear spam, or are subject to a valid court order. All admin deletions are logged.
8. Swap & Exchange Marketplace
Tibu's swap feature allows users to list items they own alongside what they want in exchange. The swap marketplace is facilitated by Tibu but all swap transactions are conducted directly between users. Tibu is not responsible for the outcome of any swap. Only NIN Verified sellers may create swap listings.
9. Promoted Listings
Tibu offers paid promotion tiers for sellers who want greater visibility. Promoted listings are clearly labelled "Sponsored" to all buyers. Free listings are never suppressed to force upgrades — this is a hard product rule.
Payment for promoted listings is processed through Paystack or Flutterwave. All promotion purchases generate an immutable receipt in your seller dashboard. For refund terms, see the Billing Policy.
10. User Conduct
Users must not:
- Use the platform to harass, threaten, or defraud other users
- Share bank account numbers, external payment links, or foreign payment app URLs in platform messages
- Attempt to move transactions off-platform to avoid platform protections
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the platform
- Impersonate another person, business, or Tibu staff
- Attempt to manipulate the Deal Safety Score or review system
11. Tibu's Role — No Liability for Transactions
Tibu.ng is a marketplace platform. We connect buyers and sellers but are not a party to any transaction. We do not:
- Guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any listed item
- Arrange delivery or logistics
- Hold or process transaction funds between buyers and sellers
- Provide warranties or guarantees on items sold
Buyers and sellers deal directly with each other. Tibu strongly recommends all users inspect items in person before payment, particularly for high-value goods and property. Tibu is not liable for losses arising from transactions conducted on or off the platform.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on Tibu.ng — including the Tibu name, logo, design, and original text — is owned by Tibu.ng and protected under applicable Nigerian and international intellectual property law. Users may not reproduce, copy, or distribute Tibu content without written permission.
By posting a listing on Tibu, you grant Tibu a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your listing content (including photos) for the purpose of operating the platform and marketing Tibu's services.
13. Account Suspension & Termination
Tibu reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that:
- Violates these Terms & Conditions
- Is associated with fraud, scams, or reported misconduct
- Creates multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
- Fails identity re-verification when required
Banned users may not create new accounts. Appeals may be submitted to support@tibu.ng within 14 days of a ban notice.
14. Modifications to Terms
Tibu reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Users will be notified of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from use of Tibu.ng shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
